Crawling Into Bed with
Patricia Logan
And a Good Book
Important
things first, are these sheets silk or cotton? I
am partial to silk sheets so thank you for indulging me, Lee. *squirms*
*blushes* What
are you wearing? *blinks and pulls the sheet up under her
chin, eyeballing the hottie* Um…
*headdesk* Why do people keep thinking this is a clothing optional activity? What
are we snacking on in bed while we read tonight?
Strawberry Twizzlers and Los Lobos Doritos tacos with extra sour cream and
plenty of Fire sauce J
Um... I'll have the Twizzlers. Those chips sound lethal. If
I open this nightstand drawer, what will I find?
*slaps Lee’s hand then smiles* Nothing. *whistles*
*eye roll* Yeah, because our readers ahve never seen those before. Do
you roll up in the blankets like a burrito, or kick the covers off during the
night? Neither. I sleep with the sheet and the blanket
within reach. I do live in Southern California, after all. I am a very clean
sleeper. When I get up in the morning, I literally pull up my sheet and blanket
and fluff my pillow. Then, I put on my environmental protection gear and make
my husband’s side of the bed. It usually looks like a bomb went off. lol
Can
I put my cold feet on your calves to warm them up?
FRESH! *smiles shyly* Sure, big boy.
What
are we reading? “The Thief” Book 2 of my Marine Bodyguards
series.

Former
Marine and bona fide hero, Ranger Corrigan, is one paycheck away from joining
his brethren among the ranks of Los Angeles’s homeless Veterans. When he is
offered a great paying job in a palatial mansion, Ranger jumps at the chance
for a roof over his head and a hot meal in his belly.
Handsome and cultured Landry Metzel lives too well to
be the insurance appraiser he claims to be, and Ranger can’t help but want to
know why he’s been hired to protect an innocuous man with no enemies. Metzel
certainly won’t be sorry to see him go.
As famous masterpieces suddenly begin disappearing
from private collections, Ranger begins putting two and two together. When an
LAPD detective starts asking questions about murders tied to the thefts, Ranger
suddenly wants to learn more about the man he’s hopelessly attracted to.
A wisecracking former Marine, a man with a desperate
secret to hide, and a murderous villain come together in a tale of murder,
danger, intrigue, and the crime of the century.
“Well,
you look no worse for the wear, Landry,” he said as Landry walked over and
slipped his arms under the leather jacket and around Ranger’s back, looking up
into his handsome face. His brown eyes were twinkling with humor as he reached
around and hugged Landry, leaning down to kiss him. As Ranger plied his lips,
Landry sighed, realizing that he’d never expected to meet a man like his big
bodyguard who’d walked into his life and taken over everything in it including
finding his way into his heart in such a short time. When they separated from
the kiss, Landry stared up at him.
“What
did you think? I’d come walking out of the bathroom bowlegged?” Landry remarked
with a smile.
Ranger
grinned and then leaned down, pecking his lips again. “You could have the good
grace to at least walk like John Wayne for a few minutes to remind me that I’ve
just been deep inside you.”
What an understatement! Ranger’s not
only hot as hell but hung like Wayne’s horse. “Mm,
say that again,” Landry said, reaching up and circling Ranger’s neck and
tugging at his head to pull him down for another kiss.
Ranger
complied, kissing him slowly and softly before pulling away and staring down at
him. He smiled again. “Deep inside you?”
“Deep…
DEEP inside me,” Landry said with a chuckle.
“Why
is the door locked?” Suddenly the doorknob to Landry’s room rattled. Fear
lanced through Landry as he realized Belzer was right outside the room. His
gaze flew to Ranger and the look on his bodyguard’s face was filled with the
very same emotion. How an eighty-five year old man could strike fear in the
hearts of two grown men a third their age, Landry would never know.
“Jesus!”
Landry whispered. “That’s Belzer! Hide.”
“Hide?”
Ranger said. He and Landry broke apart and Ranger looked frantically side to
side. “Where?”
“Jesus!
Keep your voice down,” Landry hissed. He began bouncing on the balls of his
feet, not knowing what the hell to do with a six and a half foot tall bodyguard
who had no business being in his bedroom with the door locked. “Hide! Hide!
Hide!” he waved his hands frantically in all directions. He finally decided on
the bathroom. “There! There!” he pointed.
Ranger
darted toward the bathroom and Landry reacted in fear as Belzer called out,
“Master Landry? Why is the door locked? Are you in there, Master Landry?” He
pounded on the door and Landry froze in fear as he saw Ranger in an all out
flight for the bathroom.
“Not
in the bathroom!” he whispered loudly, running after Ranger. He grabbed his
bicep as Ranger swung around and stared down at him.
“What?
You said the bathroom.” His eyes were wide also.
“Belzer
is always checking the bathroom. For all I know he could have clean towels,”
Landry hissed, leaning close to Ranger. “God knows, I tell the man not to do
the laundry!” He was freaking out but all he knew was there was no way he
wanted Belzer to find out he was gay by being caught in the buff with his
handsome bodyguard in the room.
“Christ.
Where then?” Ranger asked, frantically holding onto Landry’s hands with a grip
of steel.
Landry’s
eyes darted all around the room. “The closet! The closet!” he hissed.
Ranger
darted toward the closet.
“Not
in the closet!” he whispered loudly, frantically running after Ranger to stop
him. “Belzer may have something to hang in there!”
Ranger
stopped in his tracks and spun around, glaring at Landry. “Maybe if I stand
here still as a statue, and turn sideways he won’t see me,” he growled.
“Now
is no time to play games, Ranger!” Landry hissed.
“Yeah?
Cause hop-fuckin’-scotch comes to mind!” Ranger sniped.
“Master
Landry! Are you in there?” The old geezer pounded on the door again.
“Here,
Belzer!” Landry called out as he frantically ran in circles around the room.
“I’ll be there in a second!” he yelled. He ran over to Ranger and grabbed his
arm, lowering his voice to a loud whisper. “Do something!”
“Well,
I could curl into a tiny speck of dust but he’d probably have a broom and a pan
with him and when he finished with me, you’d never hear from me again!”
