An Excerpt

When he opened his eyes again long moments later, he caught sight of two young men, nearly identical in appearance standing in the shade of a leafy palm tree directly in his line of vision. Stunned, he stared in disbelief. They were absolutely beautiful. Were they actors from the studio? Pale skin, black hair, identical bright blue eyes,  rosy-red lipped mouths, slender athletically built, they were so absorbed in one another they seemed alone in the crowded yard.

As he watched, the boys turned closer in to each other, leaning forward to whisper together. Lowering his lids, Terry watched covertly. There was something illicit about the pair, something almost sexual. But surely they were related? Two young men who looked so much alike had to be brothers.

One of the boys tugged the other deeper into the shadows of a tree and the privacy fence. They looked around, and when one bright blue glance settled on him for a minute, Terry's heart rate increased and his skin heated. They couldn’t tell he watched from under his lashes could they? Apparently deciding that he was asleep and no threat, the two embraced, sharing gentle kisses and petting each other with slim white hands.

Enthralled, Terry stifled a groan as his cock stirred against the zipper of his khaki shorts. Damn. That hadn’t happened with so little effort in a long time. What the fuck? He tried to look away from the boys, told himself he should be disgusted, but he couldn’t. Bottom line, he’d never been so turned on in his life. He’d spent his whole life doing and feeling exactly what everyone felt he ought, and what had it gotten him? A corner office in the family business and a lonely bed at night. Fuck it. He was done living for everyone else. If Mischa could find his own way, then Terry damn well could too.  And he’d get started on doing that as soon as his erection subsided enough to get out of this chair without causing himself a lot of embarrassment. He crossed his hands over his lap and continued to watch the boys in the corner of the yard.

Mmm, and why rush off? This lovely couple was really getting into their embrace now, and since no one else seemed to notice, Terry felt kind of included, almost as though he were participating in the act instead of witnessing it. He could practically feel the sweep of tongues in his mouth, the touch of two sets of hands tracing his shoulders, his abdomen. Damn, he really wished he had Dan’s bold personality or Mischa’s rebellious streak. He’d be over there in a heartbeat taking his share of kisses.

Down boy, he whispered to his newly overactive libido. Baby steps; we’ll get there eventually. Jumping from mild-mannered straight accountant to gay threesome in seconds made for too drastic a change.

“Terry? Are you all right?  Do you need a drink or something?”
Damn. Somehow Mischa had walked up and knelt next to him without him noticing.
“I’m fine. Fine. It’s a little hot here, that’s all.” Terry spoke, but he didn’t look at Mischa.

Excerpt 2

Shit. This wasn’t going well. Did you really expect it to?  Why? You didn’t enjoy hanging out in clubs as a straight man, why did you think you would find the smoke, noise, and crowd more appealing now that you’re gay? Good point that. He didn’t like this scene, straight or gay. Nodding, decision made, he dropped a bill on the bar next to his untouched drink and headed for the door. No meat markets, gay or straight.

He had nearly achieved his objective when a hand from nowhere yanked him onto the dance floor and he found himself playing pole to a wildly gyrating dancer in a miniscule pair of black leather shorts. The dancer rubbed his obviously aroused cock all over whatever parts of Terry he managed to reach and draped his arms around his neck. Stunned, Terry waited for his body to respond. Nope. Nothing. Sighing, he raised his hands, looked at the other man’s nearly naked body and grimaced. He’d had this problem when his first prom date wore a backless strapless dress, too. No safe place to put his hands.

Finally, he settled for pushing the tips of his fingers against the man’s shoulders, trying to get some distance between them. “Thanks, but no thanks.”

He backed away from the disappointed guy and then turned to make another break for the door. He assiduously ignored the straying hands that patted at his ass and groped his body, maintaining a steady pace toward the door.

At last he stood in the clean, sweet air outside the club, sucking in deep breaths. With fresh air came a return of sanity. What the hell did he think he was doing anyway? He wasn’t some kid out looking to get laid. He was a grown man who’d had a moment of epiphany. His personality hadn’t changed. He’d just fallen in lust. Ok, maybe after six months he could consider the possibility that it might be more, but he certainly hadn’t become promiscuous just because he’d admitted he was gay. He wanted two men, and only those particular two men would do. Looking for substitutes in bars was the stupidest idea he’d ever come up with. No, he could blame that idea on Mischa, the little shit.

Calm settled over him. Yeah, Mischa. He pulled his cell phone from his pocket and pressed the rapid dial button programmed with Mischa’s cell. He’d met his twins any number of times at Mischa’s house in the past six months. If he stuck close to Mischa he was certain to encounter his obsession again. Next time he met up with the twins, he’d be ready. No more wussing out.  Next time, he’d ask them.

***
“He was here.”

Dex turned to stare into Trick’s blue eyes. He smiled; such a beautiful face his brother had. “I saw him, too.” Dex replied, pulling his brother back down onto the chair next to his own at the tiny table along the furthest wall of the club. “He stood at the bar for a while.”

Trick leaned forward across the tiny table to whisper in his ear in order to be heard over the loud music. “I told you he was gay.”

“He was straight at that party six months ago. I saw him arrive with that slutty actress, Marissa “Look I Have Boobs” Matinson.” Dex shivered as Trick’s warm breath caressed his ear. He swept a swift glance around the crowded club, but no one seemed to be paying any attention to them.

“We arrived at that party with Bella, does that make us straight?” Trick flicked Dex’s earlobe with his tongue, sending more shivers through his frame. “We should have gone over to him, said hello.”

“Quit teasing,” Dex demanded, twisting to press a kiss to the tormenting lips. “I want him, too. And I will concede that his presence here does give a strong indication that he might be gay. But,” he cautioned as he saw the fire light in Trick’s eyes, “being gay doesn’t mean he’s going to be into being with both of us.” Oh shit, he hated seeing that devastated look in those beloved blue eyes. Lifting a hand, he pushed straight black locks behind Trick’s ear and kissed him again, a little harder this time, trying to distract him from the possibility that their crush might not want them. Terry Blake always seemed vaguely startled to find himself with Dex and Trick.  Every time they met he’d introduce himself as though he’d forgotten who they were, make some vague comment about the weather, stare around desperately, and make some shallow excuse to leave them.  Sometimes, Dex thought he saw the slightest hint of heat, an ember of desire, but always it disappeared.

Sighing, Trick pushed him away, and then grasped his hand. “I know. But I didn’t like seeing him here. I didn’t like Calvin flirting with him, I didn’t like that little creep dancing with him, and I didn’t like seeing all those guys grabbing his ass. He’s ours, I know it.”

God bless Trick. He was always so certain things would turn out the way he wanted them to. No matter how many times life reared back and slapped them in the face, he always seemed to hold hope in his heart. Dex pulled Trick into a comforting embrace, and whispered into his ear, “I didn’t like seeing that either, doll. But I did like that he didn’t seem to care about those other guys.”

“What do you mean?” Trick gazed into Dex’s eyes, seeking reassurance.

“I mean the hottest guys in this room gave him the eye, and he didn’t even notice. I don’t know why Mischa’s brother came here tonight, but I do know he left alone and he didn’t have to.”

Fuck. Mischa’s brother. There was a timely reminder. After years of rejection and snide remarks from family, friends, and complete strangers, Trick and Dex had finally found friends who accepted them for who they were. Mischa, Donovan and Bella didn’t look at them as though they were perverts because they loved one another. They didn’t insist on looking the other way when he and Trick showed their affection for one another, and they didn’t demand prurient details about how deep that affection went.

He looked over at Trick again. He wanted above all things to see his brother happy. Six months ago when they caught the gorgeous accountant watching them at a barbeque at Mischa’s house, they’d both felt an instant surge of desire. Terry’s expression showed fascination, not disapproval or disgust. The potential loss of Mischa’s friendship made the price of taking Terry to their bed too high.

And on to the recipe!  Petits Fours: These dainty icing-coated miniature cakes add a special touch to showers, open houses or teas. Try this easy Petits Fours recipe I found while looking for dessert ideas.Next tiem I"m hosting an event, these are on the menu!

Cake
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon  salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
6 Land O Lakes® All-Natural Egg whites
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup milk
Icing
3 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
3 drops food color, if desired
Garnish
 Candy flowers, if desired
 Frosting flowers, if desired
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 13x9-inch baking pan; set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Set aside.

Beat sugar and butter in large bowl at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, until creamy. Add 1 egg white at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition just until mixed.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire racks 10 minutes. Loosen edge of cake by running knife around inside edge. Carefully remove cake from pan; cool completely.

Trim edges from cake; cut each cake into 24 (1 1/2-inch square) pieces.

Combine sugar, cream of tartar and water in 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a full boil (12 to 14 minutes). Cover; boil 3 minutes. Uncover; continue cooking until candy thermometer reaches (228°F. to 234°F.) or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms a 2-inch soft thread (15 to 20 minutes). Remove from heat; cool to 110°F. or until bottom of pan is slightly warm to touch (do not stir) ( 1 hour). Stir in powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon almond extract and food color, if desired.

Place wire cooling rack over waxed paper. Place 1 cake piece on fork; drizzle icing over top and sides of cake, making sure each side is covered. Place onto wire rack; let stand until icing is set. (If icing becomes too thick, reheat over low heat until thin consistency and easy to drizzle (2 to 3 minutes)). Garnish each petit four with candy flowers or frosting flowers, if desired.

- If you do not have a candy thermometer use these guidelines for the cold water test: *Use a clean spoon. *Drop small amount of mixture into a cup of very cold water. *Test hardness with fingers. At 223°F. to 234°F the mixture should form a 2-inch soft thread.

Story Orgy Presents: Interviews with Hank Edwards

Story Orgy Presents: Interviews
with Hank Edwards

Good morning, Story Orgy Fans!  I’d like to introduce Hank Edwards, whom we all know and love, as the author of Wicked Reflections,  here to talk about "Plus Ones” and “Bounty”, both of which sound fantastic.
First, let's let the readers know a little about Hank.  Where are you from, Hank?  Detroit, MI
Tell us a bit about your family.  Youngest of three children, I have two sisters.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?  My sense of humor.
Ahh. Readers are familiar with that sense of humor!  LOL.  What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?  “Great power involves great responsibility.” I think it’s something people who have risen to power tend to forget.
Hmmm.  That quote sounds very familiar.  When and why did you begin writing?  I began writing very young.  I was probably 9 or 10.I read a lot and I always wanted the books to continue so a lot of times I would write my own sequels to favorite books or movies.
When did you first know you could be a writer?  That I COULD be a writer, not until high school when I received great comments on a ghost story I wrote for a contest.
What inspires you to write and why?  I love to tell a story. The characters basically tell me what to do and I just have to find the time to sit down and do it.
What genre are you most comfortable writing?  I like humor and paranormal/suspense.
Who or what influenced your writing over the years?  Stephen King was a huge influence. I love how he takes ordinary people and creates extraordinary events or worlds for them to inhabit.
And I think we see that influence in Wicked Reflections.  What do you consider the most challenging about writing a novel, or about writing in general?  Finding the time. I have a day job and friends and family to make time for as well, it’s tough sometimes to fit it all in.
Did writing this book teach you anything and what was it?  There were a lot of edits returned from my editor. I would say I learned not to throw in scenes that don’t advance the plot just because they’re funny. She really helped me pare it down to what was needed to tell the story.
What is your greatest strength as a writer?  I think I write engaging scenes of suspense and humor, and I think readers really enjoy my characters. I hope they will love Evan and Paul from “Plus Ones,” as well as Evan’s friend Miggy and Paul’s brother Adam. I really did like spending time with them. And, of course, there’s always my clumsy fluffer with the heart of gold, Charlie Heggensford.
Have you ever had writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it? YES! I usually find exercise helps me blast away the writer’s block. Or sometimes, if I’m blocked on a particular story, I’ll just start writing something new, maybe a new short story, and I’ll find that the problem I was having in my other writing is worked out.

Tell us your latest news?   My novel, “Vancouver Nights,” the third Charlie Heggensford adventure, is a Lambda Literary Award Finalist. My partner and I are attending the award ceremony in New York City the last Thursday of May and we’re both very excited because he put together the cover for the book. Also, on June 14th my new novel, “Plus Ones,” will be available for purchase from Loose Id. It’s a romantic comedy centered around a summer of gay weddings in the state of Michigan.

Can you share a little of your current work with us? SEE BELOW

How did you come up with the title? I came up with the title first, I think I heard it used in a movie or TV show, and from that the idea was born.

Amazing when it happens like that, that a single word or phrase sparks a whole novel.  Can you tell us about your main character? Evan Dresden is looking to settle down, but he can’t seem to find the right man. He’s tired of the bar scene and one night stands. He has some good friends who are determined to help him meet Mr. Right, but Evan’s starting to sour on the prospect of finding anyone at all.

How did you develop your plot and characters? I get a general feeling for the characters and the plot and as I write the book the characters kind of reveal their secrets and ambitions to me and the plot builds from there.

Who designed the cover?  Justin James designed the cover, and I love it!

Who is your publisher?  Loose Id. This is my third book with them and I’m very excited and grateful.

Why did you choose to write this particular book? I really wanted to write a romantic comedy with fun characters readers can relate to.

What was the hardest part about writing this book?  The edits. It was tough cutting out some scenes, but I understood why it needed to be done.

Did you learn anything from writing this book and what was it? I learned not to add characters or scenes for the sake of entertainment. Always move the plot forward.

How do you promote this book?  Facebook, Twitter, my website and blog, and some local book signings as well as a blog tour.

Where can we purchase the book?  For the months of June, July, and August, from Loose Id exclusively; after that it will be available on all other e-book sites.

Will you write others in this same genre? Most definitely! I love it.

Have you included a lot of your life experiences, even friends, in the plot? I included a few situations that were very similar to events that happened to me, mostly the embarrassing ones, and Miggy is modeled after a very good friend of mine I’ve known for decades.

What are your current writing projects now? I’m currently working on several projects. One is a sequel to my novella “Holed Up,” and I’ve also completed the first draft of the first book in a series I’m calling the Venom Valley Series. I’m thinking of self-publishing these titles as they deal with vampires and zombies in the Old West and can be a little darker in tone than some publishers like.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? I’m currently reading “Under the Poppy” by Michigan author Kathe Koja and loving it.

How do you deal with rejection letters?  Rejection letters are a way of life for a writer. I wish they would add more detail as to WHY the work was rejected so I could try to improve, but mostly I just turn back to my submission list and look for another place to ship the book off.

What are some of the best tools available today for writers, especially those just starting out?  I love using Scrivener for Mac. It’s an awesome writing tool, and has really helped me organize my ideas and keep all my research in one place. I love it!

What do you do to unwind and relax? Exercise, TV, movies, spending time with my partner and friends.

What dreams have been realized as a result of your writing? I’ve met a great group of people because of my writing, and attended some awesome conferences. And I get checks for writing!

If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would you want it to be? Be good to yourself and others, and don’t take yourself too seriously. Take time to laugh and enjoy those around you. Sometimes family can be the people we choose to be with and not the people we were born to.

Plus One's Blurb:
Evan took a breath and dropped his gaze, his system flooded with adrenaline and testosterone. He had never experienced anything like this before and had no idea how to deal with it. When he met Paul’s gaze, it was like a magnet grabbing steel, and he could not look away. What the hell was this about?
A shout of surprise that sounded like it came from John in the upper level of the house roused Evan from his internal musing, and he grabbed both drinks. Holding up the chilled glasses, he flashed Paul his brightest smile and said in a singsong voice, “And that, class, is how you make an old-fashioned and a whiskey sour. Questions?”
Paul chuckled and reached out for his drink, but before he could take it, Evan heard a sound from behind him followed by shouts of alarm. It was a familiar, galloping sound, and a knot of anxiety tightened inside him as he realized what it meant. He tried to will his legs to move, but he wasn’t fast enough, and before he could set the drinks on the bar or press himself against the wall, a heavy, solid body struck him from behind, furry legs clamping around his waist and driving him to the floor. As he collapsed beneath his attacker, Evan saw the contents of both drinks fly from their glasses as if in slow motion, and watched helplessly as the sticky, sugary bronze of the old-fashioned coated Paul’s chest and the concoction of sour mix and whiskey splashed across Paul’s crotch.
Then he was on the floor, the empty glasses rolling away across the cream carpet as the large, furry form started humping him from behind. He knew it was Bandit, of course -- Alden and John’s Great Dane that only humped Evan and did so every chance he got. Evan tried to break the dog’s grip around his waist, but the animal was strong, and he could not squirm away as Bandit humped him fast and rough.
People streamed into the room, drawn by the commotion, and laughter soon followed. Evan’s cheeks grew hot in embarrassment, and his forehead burned where it scraped across the carpet from the force of Bandit’s motions. He heard Alden enter the room, scold Bandit, and shout to John for help. Evan’s hips lifted and fell as Alden tugged repeatedly on the dog’s collar, trying in vain to dislodge the Dane. The crowd in the room laughed louder, none of them offering to help, and Evan’s forehead scraped harder across the carpet.
Finally Evan felt the dog’s grip on his hips loosen, and he crawled away. He got to his feet and turned, attempting a dignified stance despite the situation. The crowd grew quiet, most of them holding a hand over their smiles, some with eyes watery from the force of their laughter. The man Evan had been talking with in the other room -- the man with the very white teeth -- Bill, if he remembered correctly, knelt near the fallen glasses, one hand hooked alongside Alden’s through Bandit’s collar. The dog coughed and gagged from the force of Alden and Bill’s struggles, tongue hanging out and brown eyes gazing up at Evan with unabashed glee. Paul was nowhere in sight, and Evan felt an odd mix of relief and disappointment.
“Are you all right?” Bill asked, genuine concern on his face.
“Well,” Evan said with a huff as he smoothed out his clothes, “that wasn’t any worse than my junior prom.” The room exploded in laughter and, smiling as brightly as possible, he nodded to the group and turned for the stairs, meeting John in the hallway on the way.
“Evs! We won!” John exclaimed and grabbed him in a hug that forced all the breath from his lungs.
“What?” Evan’s mind was focused only on the embarrassment he had just endured and unable to remember why he had even come to their house in the first place. “Who won?”
John pulled back and frowned at him. “We won. All of us. They just announced that the gay marriage bill passed. We actually won!” John squinted at him. “What happened to your forehead?”
Evan took a breath as his memory came back. The gay marriage bill had been on the Michigan ballot before and lost, but this time the gay organizations had funneled truckloads of money into supporting the bill, and it had apparently paid off. He gave John a small smile and patted him on the shoulder. “That is great news. Excuse me just a moment, won’t you?”
He took the stairs two at a time, cringing as he heard someone say to John, “Damn, after all that, I’m surprised he can take the stairs that fast.”

Coming Soon from Breathless Press

Telling the TRuth
Truth or Dare
book 2

The Blake brothers have upped the ante in their weekly poker game. The week Terry loses, he finds that paying his debt of telling the truth sets him free to pursue a fantasy he never dreamed could be reality.

Terry has lived his life according to the guidelines, by studying accounting, getting an MBA, and working for the family business. And while his work has its own rewards, something has been missing, and his eyes have only just been opened to what--or rather who--that could be.

Terry can handle any dare his brothers dish out, but the demand for Truth is a different matter. Unable to hide behind his pristine reputation and fancy business suit, Terry is honor bound to divulge secrets he’s been ashamed to admit even to himself in the privacy of his own bedroom.

Twins Dex and Trick have finally found acceptance for their relationship in the homes of their friends. They would never do anything to jeopardize that newfound sense of belonging. Fooling around with Mischa’s prissy, domineering, oh-so-sexy older brother is risky. A one night stand might be okay, and the boys happily indulge, but then close ranks afterward, pushing Terry aside.

Terry isn’t going to back down without a fight. He’s convinced that Dex and Trick are meant to be his, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make them realize all the safety and protection they need can be found in his arms.

Story Orgy Presents: Interviews with Patricia Logan

Story Orgy Presents: Interviews
Talking with Patricia Logan today.
Who is here to share some information about herself, how she writes, and what she's currently working on.  You can find Patti online at Naughtypassions.blogspot.com

What is your favorite quality about yourself?

I think I’m most proud that I have been a good mother. I’ve tried to raise my kids to be great people with loving and unprejudiced values. I encouraged their differences and it has helped them to grow up with great feelings about who they are and what they can do. Nothing holds them back. They are climbers and resilient fighters with huge loving hearts.

What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life? I’m most proud of becoming a published author at 49 years of age. It’s a great rush to have someone believe enough in your intellectual property, that they pick you up and sign you to a book deal. That first acceptance was one of my best days.

When and why did you begin writing? I began writing in middle school. I was encouraged by the teacher because he told me that I had a great imagination and talent. Then, I put it aside for thirty years while I grew up, went to college, got married and had kids. When my career as a mortgage broker tanked in 2007, I seriously considered going back to nursing. I was jumping over a chain link fence at my daughter’s soccer game and tore my left ACL which required knee surgery. That laid me up for about two months and so I just voraciously ate through my library at home and once I recuperated, I thought, you know, you could write one of these vanilla romances.

I did. And let me tell you, that sucker was so bad that I got 39 rejection letters so I put it aside and wrote another one, then another. I started researching my genre, M/M and found out that it was the hottest sub-group of erotica and erotica was the hottest sub-group of romance. My brain told me, what the hell are am I doing trying to compete with the 400,000 vanilla romance submissions that publishers receive every year when I could be writing my favorite genre anyway? I wrote my first M/M book in 26 days. It practically wrote itself. That was in 2009 and came out last year.

What inspires you to write and why? The love I have for gay men is what inspires me to write M/M. I want to give them the dignity and respect that so many are lacking because of this crazy world. And I wanted to worship their bodies with my words.

Tell us your latest news? My second book in the Armadillo series “Undercover Nights” was released March 9th. The last in that series “Warrior Nights” will be released June 8th this year. That is a fun series and the third book is my first M/M/M ménage. That was a bit of a challenge. I wanted to make the sex real and the emotions between my guys real. I think it works.

I also have a standalone epic of 133K words called Gypsy Knight coming out October 12, 2011. That’s a medieval romance that takes place during the crusades. It is a M/M/F ménage.

I also have organized an anthology with the wonderful Ga Hauser, Sue Brown, Sammy Jo Hunt and Lisa Worrall. That is titled “Chasing the Dream” and will be submitted to Dreamspinner this summer. I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented lineup of M/M writers.

I have another series of 3 or 4 already under way. The first has been submitted. That’s called “Captive Lover” and the others are in synopsis form or WIP’s. Whew!

How important do you think villains are in a story? I think villains make the story. I have villains in all of my titles. Sometimes it’s a real physical threat to my guys but sometimes it’s just jealousy or misunderstanding. I like angst in my stories. I learned that from some of my very talented writer friends.

What books have most influenced your life? I think the very first M/M title I ever picked up and read through in one furious story orgy of my own was the most influential book I’ve ever read. I have no idea what the title was. There are so very many now. I find it difficult to read anything else now. It’s my drug of choice. From the moment I opened it until the moment I closed it later that night, I was riveted to the words on the page and the male love scenes held me spellbound.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? I’m reading “Chance to be King” by Sue Brown and “A Wicked Encounter” by Sammy Jo Hunt.

How do you deal with rejection letters? Before I was published, I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. I got 39 in a row on my first HET book. Since I started writing M/M I’m almost embarrassed to say that everything I’ve submitted to date has been accepted. I think is has to do with the fact that I love that genre and it shows through in my work.

What are some of the best tools available today for writers, especially those just starting out? Meet your favorite authors on Face Book and other social media sites. You learn so much from others that are already published and it’s a great way to promote your work as well as have fun and make true friendships.

What do you do to unwind and relax? I read and spend time with my youngest who’s 12. I almost lost her last year when she had to undergo emergency brain surgery. It slapped me right in the face and I learned darn quick just what was the most important thing on earth.

What dreams have been realized as a result of your writing? The opportunity to be at home with my family and spend more time with them.

If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would you want it to be? Put your families and loved ones first guys, before anything else. Once they’re gone, you can’t get that time back again.

Here’s an excerpt from “A Very Good Year” my current WIP and the second in my new series. This is a M/M/M ménage title as well.

Carlo watched the play of emotions across Dmitri’s face. The lust was obvious and Carlo was amused that Dmitri schooled himself to try to hide it. The disgust was a surprise. What on earth didn’t this small town vintner see in a world famous man such as himself? It wasn’t that he thought over much of his assets; he was just confident. Carlo just knew that he was the premier wine critic in the world and had worked extremely hard to keep that reputation. It was hard not to come off in a hoity-toity manner when you knew what he knew. He tried to be as humble as possible when he wrote about the wines but one of the things about being a critic was that he became a target of criticism himself if his review was less than flattering. His reputation, thank god, remained solid because he knew what he was doing, but the lies about his love life got to him at times and had cost him more than one loving relationship. However he tried to keep his love life private, the tabloids seemed to love a gay billionaire and they did their very best to destroy his lovers as well as himself with lies and innuendo.

“I’m sure you would like a tour of the operation we have here,” Dmitri offered. “I’d like to accompany Jenny while she shows you around if that’s all right?”

“That’s exactly what we were gonna do Dmitri, come and find you and ask you to join us,” Jenny replied.

Carlo translated the phrase in his head and so was slightly slow in answering. When he did, he smiled. Dmitri swallowed hard. The man was stunningly beautiful, angelic of face and with two well placed dimples on his cheeks, it was all Dmitri could do not to tackle him and fuck him then and there. Carlo clapped his hands together and said “Meravigliosa,” which sounded close enough to the word “marvelous” that both Jenny and Dmitri nodded and turned to walk out from under the porch. Dmitri followed Carlo and Jenny toward the vineyard.

The stunning Italian had removed his suit coat and it was folded and draped over one arm. His high tight ass had Dmitri ready to faint. The cut of the outrageously expensive suit pants outlined a tiny thong which Carlo wore underneath the white fabric and the rounded curves had Dmitri sweating under the Stetson. He was certain that he had giant sweat circles visible on his cambric shirt, even though it was morning and the heat of the day hadn’t even arrived. He silently cursed the lustful longing for Carlo’s ass and thought better of the decision to join them on their little tour. The last thing Dmitri needed was to set a bad impression for Jenny or the Lazy E Vineyards. The sight of the Lazy E’s vintner jacking his cock off in the barrel hall probably wouldn’t earn Jenny the appraisal she needed but if Dmitri didn’t get away from this man, that’s just what was gonna happen. Holy shit what an ass!

Carlo stopped his broken English and wild hand gestures and turned to draw Dmitri into the conversation. It was everything he could do to stop himself from laughing out loud when he noticed Dmitri’s eyes riveted to his ass. It was even more amusing when Dmitri tried to pretend that he hadn’t been staring at it. Dmitri Hernandez and those mahogany curls and golden eyes was going to be hard to resist, but resist he must, at least until he’d written his critique. He didn’t want Dmitri or Jenny to get the impression that Dmitri’s performance in Carlo’s bedroom had anything to do with his opinion of the winery or its vineyard.

Recipes I Love ~ Truck Stop Potatoes

Recipes I Love ~ Truck Stop Potatoes

This is an amazingly yummy dish I found in the Taste of Home magazine some time back.

Truck Stop Potatoes

2 pounds small red potatoes
1 cup chopped onion
8 oz sour cream
1 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar
½ t salt
¼ t cayenne pepper
1 14 oz can diced tomatoes

Preheat oven to 350.  In a large sauce pan, cook potatoes and chopped onion, covered, in a large amount of boiling water for 20 minutes or until tender.  Drain and return to saucepan.  Stir in sour cream, cheeses, and drained diced tomatoes.  Spoon into baking dish.  Bake, uncovered sbout 30 minutes or until heated through.

Be Yourself

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. ~e.e. cummings, 1955
