Crawl in Bed With Lorraine Nelson

Crawling Into Bed With
Lorraine Nelson
And a Good Book

*crawls into bed* Hi, Lorraine...I see you were expecting me. Important things first, are these sheets silk or cotton?

Silk of course…black silk. What a silly question, Lee. Only the best for us. ;)

*smirks* Slippy slidey silk...hmmmm. What are you wearing?

A red silk teddy, um, well, I was. LOL

And a very lovely teddy it was, too.  What are we snacking on in bed while we read tonight?

We have a tray of grapes and cheese and a bottle of baby champagne. I'll feed you if you feed me. Ooohhh! That champagne is cold! (pause) Mmmm, that's better, darling. Lick it all off.

*smiles innocently* Well, I do try to clean up my messes.  Sorry to spill it on you. If I open this nightstand drawer, what will I find?

Spare condoms and that's where I keep my play toys for those nights when you're not available.

Would you like to demonstrate those some day? Not tonight- we do ahve a book to read, after all.  Do you roll up in the blankets like a burrito, or kick the covers off during the night?

Oh, now, naughty question, Lee. You just want me to admit how hot I get.

*raises brow* Oh? You're a hot one? Then can I put my cold feet on your calves to warm them up?

Honey, if you're in bed with me, not one single spot on your bod will be cold. ;)

*snuggles* What are we reading?

We're reading Her Unlikely Bodyguard, my new release from Breathless Press. Plenty of sexciting situations to whet our, um, appetites.

BLURB:

A stalker who wants revenge…a past flame rekindled…Jemma Leigh's summer just got interesting.

***

Jemma Leigh Harding has drawn the attention of an unknown stalker and returns to her hometown of Somerville, a safe haven—or so she thinks—on the east coast of Canada.

Theodore Garrity is the last person she expects to see, considering how easily he walked away from her after graduation to join the army.

Their past history involves secrets Jemma Leigh is hesitant to share. When it becomes clear the stalker has followed her home, Teddy becomes her unlikely bodyguard. Will the terror and past hurts separate them forever? Or will love blaze a fresh path for their future?

EXCERPT:
Jemma Leigh returned to her research and left the men in the kitchen. A short while later, she heard careful footfalls as Ted made his way up the stairs to join her. "You finished with guard duty for now?"
"Could be that I came up here to do some hands-on bodyguard work."
"Oooh, I'm liking the sound of that, Teddy Bear." She loved it when they bantered back and forth like this, sexual innuendos abounding.
"And I'm becoming addicted to your charms, Jemma Love."
"Addicted speaks of something you crave over and over again. I'm loving the sound of that. Well, let's see about putting a little of my charm to work, shall we?" she suggested as she rose and went to meet him where he stood just inside the door.
"This is madness," he said between hot, smothering, impassioned kisses. "We should have our ever-lovin' heads examined."
"Later. We have more pressing issues right now," she declared as she pressed herself against him, the ridge of his erection pushing into the soft, tender skin of her belly. Standing back out of the way, she could see his shaft straining the seams of his jeans as it grew hard and ready for her.
"Too many clothes," he announced as he danced her inside then closed and locked the door.
As the lock snicked into place, Jemma Leigh started to undo her blouse, but his hands stilled hers as he requested, "Let me."
Every button released meant the slightest touch of his fingers as they brushed against her skin. Oh, sweet torment! His hands glided sensuously over her upper body as he guided the blouse over her shoulders and down her arms, letting it tangle at the cuffs, effectively trapping her hands behind her as his gaze continued a slow, carnal investigation of its own. Bypassing her bra, he swept his hands over her curves to rest at the juncture of her thighs. He grabbed her mound through her jeans and rubbed, gently at first, then harder, and harder still, until she was twisting and moaning, grinding her pelvis against the pressure of his hand, seeking some relief from the erotic torture he'd created.
Suddenly, he withdrew his hand, causing her to whimper in protest at being denied such pleasant sensations. Then she felt his hands at her waist, undoing the fastenings of her jeans, sliding inside to caress her hips as he worked the fabric down over her curves, baring all except the brief patch of curls hiding her pussy from view.
Running a finger along the inside edge of her thong while the other hand teased the valley between her butt cheeks, he had her body humming at a fevered pitch. Then her eyes shot open as he left her standing there, semi-nude and bereft of his touch, but he'd only put enough space between them to rid himself of his clothes, watching her all the while with an intensity that caused his eyes to resemble rich, malted chocolate.
He stood proud and erect in all his manly glory, and she couldn't take her eyes off him as he strode to the bed, pulling back the covers before returning for her. He swept away the rest of her clothing as he kissed her senseless. Then he picked her up and cradled her in his arms to carry her across the room, laying her down gently before lowering his body to rest beside her.
"You know, this is only the second time we've made love in a bed," he stated as he lay on his side facing her, his head propped on one hand while the other rested leisurely at her waist.
"Yes, I'm well aware of that, so let's get on with it," she teased. Taking his hand and moving it to her breast, she thrilled to his touch as he rubbed and massaged first one, then the other. She delighted in his sudden gasp as she took him firmly in hand to stroke the solid length of him.

Can I put my cold feet on your calves to warm them up? Ewww, no.

What are we reading? I think you would enjoy finding out what a day on a pirate’s ship looks like. J Check out A Day on Plunderer’s Pride.

Life is hard but worthwhile on the pirate ship Plunderer’s Pride. Follow Captain Julian Hazard and his band of ruffians as they go about their daily business. As you endure their daily struggles and nightly rewards you may find that a pirate’s life may be for you, too.

Excerpt:
Sir William Pendleton smoothed the ruffles on his pristine white blouse as he descended the staircase slowly. Two large silver buttons on his abdomen closed the black satin overcoat that swayed along the back of his calves. He exaggerated each step, overextending his legs, causing his foot to hit the stair heavily.
“Greetings, Captain Hazard. So good of you to stop by.” His voice was light and jovial.
“I am here at your request, Governor,” he stated just as cheerfully, walking over to meet him.
“Quite so. Well, in that case, I thank you for answering my summons,” the governor amended, offering the captain a limp wrist handshake. “I am a blunt man, Captain. I will come right to the point of this meeting. You have a reputation of attacking other ships taking whatever riches they have on board, the crew as well. Is there truth to this accusation?”
Captain Hazard wrapped his arms around his chest and raised a brow. “Aye. I take what I want and trade what I don’t need.” Irritation tinged his voice as he confirmed the allegation without faltering.
The governor raised his hands in surrender. “That is not a criticism, my good man, by no means. I ask because I am in need of such skills.” Governor Pendleton produced another scroll from a nearby desk draw. “This is a Letter of Marque. I would like you to stop a trade ship on its way back from the Americas. It is a Spanish galleon that makes birth out of Santa Domingo. It is said that they carry gold, silver, spices, silks, ivory, and the like. Whatever the cargo is I want it.”
Captain Hazard looked over the letter and nodded. “What is my cut?”
“Bring me half of the goods, and the other half is yours. That seems fair, does it not?”
Hazard thought on his offer. “What of the galleon’s crew?” he asked with a raised brow.
Sir Pendleton waved away his question. “Do what you will with them. Lay waste to whole lot for all I care. They are of no concern to me, only the treasure matters. Do we have an agreement?” he asked impatiently.
Captain Hazard looked over his shoulder at his companion. They had been sailing together for many years. He could read the man very well. Julian looked for signs of caution in Nigel’s handsome but blank expression, but saw none. Satisfied, he re-rolled the scroll and handed it over to Nigel before turning back to the governor.
“Aye, Governor, we have an accord.”
“Excellent! My spies tell me that the ship was due to leave the Americas just this morning in route to Santa Domingo loaded to the brim with my riches. If you leave with the rising sun you should be able to intercept them as they move past Cuba toward Haiti. I do not wish them to return to Hispaniola with riches I have already determined to be mine, Captain Hazard. Do not disappointment me,” Governor Pendleton added pointedly with an air of arrogance before turning on his heels to return to the stairs, abruptly ending their meeting.
The captain and his mate left the room quickly.
“Gather the men and meet me on the ship, Nigel. We leave before dawn.”
“Aye, sir,” he said, lagging behind him, already in motion to do his bidding.

Tantalizing Tuesday #7 Gettysburg

Welcome to another round of flash fiction on Tantalizing Tuesday!

Tantalizing Tuesday
June 6, 2011

Gettysburg
July 1, 1863

The Captain says all good soldiers know fear. I can't quite believe they are as closely acquainted with it as I am. Fear has been my closest companion. It shadows my every movement. I know its scent intimately...gunpowder and the coppery tint of blood. Fear shares my pallet, dodges my steps on and off the battlefield.
Every time my battalion enters the field of combat, I search the ranks of the Rebel forces, looking for his familiar form. The next shot I fire may endanger him. The next bullet whizzing past my head may be his. The thought of his death makes a coward of me. I would leave this fight today, if I could take him with me.
I cling to my spot on the ridge, not just following orders, but hoping the slight vantage will help me recognize him...God knows why. There can't be any reconciliation...not here, not now.
The best I can hope for is that we survive this terrible war and meet again in peace time. We should have consigned them all to the Devil and headed West. At least then we could have been together, and I wouldn't fear his death by my hand.

Enjoy my flash? Check out the others!

Crawl in Bed With Angel Martinez

Crawling Into Bed With
Angel Martinez
And a Good Book

*crawls across the bed and reclines on the pillows* Important things first, are these sheets silk or cotton?

Cotton. I’m a simple girl and I like to be able to make a mess…er, be able to wash the linens easily…um, it’s just more comfortable?

*chuckles* I see.  Wait...are you blushing? That's cute. What are you wearing?

*cough* Well, if you saw me in something slinky, you’d probably faint. And not in a good way. So tonight, I’m wearing the cotton jammie bottoms with the moons on them and the matching little tank top. Yes, they’re powder blue. With yellow moons. :p *glares around* Anybody got a problem with that? I can’t wear black all the time.

*laughs* Of course not. You look...stellar.  What are we snacking on in bed while we read tonight?

*plunks the tray across Lee’s lap* Nachos! I love nachos. Good, strong chips that hold up under pressure, ;) sharp jack cheese, homemade guacamole, a chunky, hot salsa, refritos, chili with mole sauce! *plunks two more bowls onto the tray with lots of extra napkins* Don’t forget the jalapeños and the sour cream!

Er...Angel?  I can't ... balance all this?

*runs back out and returns with an armful of bottles* And with nachos you have to have beer! You get to choose…lessee… *snuggles back in and bumps hips with Lee* We have a Belgian triple, some nice smoky stout, and Victory Hop Devil.
What? No tequila? Weren't you expecting me? *sigh* I'll try the stout, please. *leans over, jiggling laden tray* If I open this nightstand drawer, what will I find?

Er…a mess? Odds and ends…hair scrunchies…paperbacks…oh, look, a roll of Lifesavers! Um…chocolate body paint – hey who put that in there?

Oh no! Grab that! *bowl of chili slides to the left* Do you roll up in the blankets like a burrito, or kick the covers off during the night?

Covers off. Then on. Then off. Then on. Women of a certain age, you see. Forget that whole damn Sleep Number thing. They need to invent a bed that responds to body temperature *grumble*

That sounds like a genius plan.  And a perfect segue to my next question. Can I put my cold feet on your calves to warm them up?

Of course you can, dear! (No ulterior motives about using Lee as an ice pack. Nope. None at all.)

Oooh.  You are toasty. *settles tray, sips beer* What are we reading?

Oh, this? Just a lil’ something I whipped up :D Vassily the Beautiful is a blended genre kind of meal – Science Fiction, M/M Romance, Tilted-axis Fairytale – but I’ll let the story speak for itself.

Vassily the Beautiful
M/M SF from Angel Martinez

Blurb:

Vassily has brains and beauty but an accident has left him with neural damage. With his mother missing and his cruel, amoral stepfather demanding he go see the criminal mastermind Baba Yaga, Vassily needs a hero. He might not have a choice but to become his own.

Excerpt:

A faint glow of light appeared above him, growing brighter as he climbed, so he reasoned he must be near the top. As he craned his head back, his right foot slipped. His stomach plummeted to his feet as he banged hard against the ladder and clung there, his frightened gasps manifesting as white plumes in the dark.

Don’t turn into rubber now, legs, please, please don’t.

Shaking, panting, he found purchase again with his right foot and convinced his left hand to move, then his right. He shivered with more than cold, exhaustion and fear making each rung harder than the last. Forcing his body onward, he climbed. He had no choice and he was damned if he’d give up now.

The glow from the rooftop became bright enough for him to make out the building stones in front of him. Almost there…

He stopped as the whine of an airbike split the snow-blanketed silence. Risking a glance up, he nearly lost his footing again in shock. A flame-red airbike angled in toward the building and disappeared over the roof edge. The whine of its engine powering down made it obvious that the rider, it had to be the same one who had nearly hit him that morning, was landing on the roof.

All right, he seemed like a reasonable person. At least there would be someone on the roof when he got there to plead his case.

The surprise was considerably less when his second airbike encounter roared into sight overhead, the gold bike and rider muted to glowing tones in the soft roof lights. Baba Yaga’s security, they had to be, though the sun-yellow rider’s flamboyance seemed at odds with such serious employment.

Vassily sighed in relief when his head crested the roof ledge, a blurred view of figures moving about on solid rooftop threatening to turn his shaking legs to jelly. He was just about to hoist himself up when the third airbike knifed through the night sky, by the sound of it heading directly for him.

He cried out, legs kicking, when a rough hand seized the back of his shirt and yanked him from the ladder. Instead of falling, though, he hung suspended, dread creeping over him like morning frost as he realized he dangled from the grip of the black-clad rider who had passed him earlier.

The man maneuvered his vehicle over the roof, and in a voice like sandpaper dragged over broken glass, declared, “We have a spy.”

Cheating Heroes With Jean Joachim

Before we can discuss cheating, let’s define the term.  In romance novels, a cheater is someone who violates the rules of a relationship. The hero and heroine or two heroes can be lovers who have made a pact, simply strayed into monogamy or actually gotten married. But if there is a spoken or even unspoken bond that the couple will remain sexually faithful and the hero sleeps with someone else, he is cheating.

Escape from life
Why can’t a hero cheat? Plenty of men do in real life? Why don’t romance publishers want to publish books with cheating heroes? One reason readers flock to romance is to escape from real life. Some romance books are more realistic than others. I write contemporary romance and strive to make them as realistic as possible within the boundaries readers are looking for: faithful heroes and happy endings. That rules out cheating men.

Makes the hero look untrustworthy
Another reason cheating leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a romance reader is that it’s a break of basic trust between the hero, his lover and the reader. A relationship doesn’t work if trust is broken. Once the lover discovers a cheating partner, it’s practically impossible to regain the same level of trust. And if that trust is violated in the bedroom, where else is the lover being dishonest? Suspicion created by cheating taints all aspects of the hero’s life in the mind of his lover and the reader.

Faithful heroes become supermen
Romance readers are the first to admit they love the men in their lives. But those men are flawed, as are all human beings. In romance novels we read about the perfect hero. One aspect that makes him perfect is being sexually faithful to the heroine or significant other. I like to write imperfect heroes, slightly flawed men, but my men are never so flawed they can’t stay faithful to the heroine.

Tarnishes the Lover
Whether the object of desire for our hero is a man or woman, if the hero is cheating it makes his lover look less than wonderful. If he’s off making love to someone else, we tend to think less of his main squeeze. We wonder what’s wrong with him or her. If the SO is painted as irresistible, how come the hero is screwing around? Why does he need someone else if he or she is so great? So his unfaithful behavior taints his lover as well.

The Strength of Love
Hopefully everyone reading our books has experienced true love at some time in their lives. True love is a powerful emotion. It can move mountains, start wars and heal the sick. If our hero and his lover have true love, it should be so strong, so captivating that he is overwhelmed with enormous desire for his lover. This won’t ring true if he is off bed-bouncing with someone else. Their love loses power, credibility if the hero is messing around with someone else. We don’t believe he truly loves the principal man or woman in his life. We think he’s a phony, a liar and we cease to believe the love story.

What do you think? Can a hero be a cheater without losing you, the reader?

Tantalizing Tuesday # 6 - Sylvie

Welcome to a new Tantalizing Tuesday!
Here's a flash of a different sort for you....

Sylvie

Her eyes sparkle with humorous challenge; her lips spread in a teasing smile. Everyone stares at her, but my eyes fall to the tickets she tossed on the table.
People look at us, not knowing if she's serious. I can't force the words she wants through my tight throat. My palms dampen, icy sweat drips down my spine. The girls from our office laugh. They think it's a joke. Part of me does too. Sylvia is way beyond me. She's pretty, smart...courageous.
The light in her eyes dims, but her smile's wider, and I see her confidence in me is shaken. Unable to speak, I lean over the table and kiss her.
The little harpy inside who's been telling me Sylvie's just messing with me, rests control of my soul and I jerk away. My lashes drift shut and I swallow hard.
The laughter dies. The "Haha I was just fooling" never comes.
I pry reluctant lids open and meet her gaze again.
The sparkle's back. The girls are making plans for shopping...because it looks like Sylvie and I are eloping.
Minutes after I should have spoken, the words I choked on last night burst forth. "Yes. I love you."

LeeLee's View: Cheating in Romance

Cheating in romance books from a reader's perspective. This subject came up, Lee Brazil talked about and had me thinking and at first I thought any cheating is bad but then I thought you can't lump all cheating, let me explain just like a lie, all lies are different. We do it all the time if we don't think someone looks great we lie to not hurt their feelings, the little lies we tell our children etc. We all can't stand up and say all lying is bad because we all do it. Okay back to the cheating in romance books. Right now I read only m/m so I'm talking from that view. I've read a book where one MC is confused and doesn't know if he's gay and at the same time he has a girlfriend and he meets the other MC he's attracted to them and they do something, of course he cheated on his girlfriend but I have to say and this will sound bad but I didn't really feel bad for her, okay in my defense she's usually made out to be a b*tch, hehe I've also read where the MC is once again confused he gets with the other MC but then gets scared believing he's not gay and he does something with a female or even another guy just to make sure, not crazy about this one, but I can understand even though I don't like it. The one that really gets me though is the big misunderstanding/fight, run out and have sex with a guy to show him. This one bugs me the most. Still cheating in romance can be tricky, it can even depend on the person who did it and how they did it. It's just not black and white and I have to say that it wouldn't necessarily stop me from reading a book . I do know for some people that if there is any type of cheating at all they won't read the book and I have to say sometimes it really fits the story and works as funny as that sounds. I have to say Lee Brazil you made me really think about this one. This is only my opinion for romance and not real life, lol

Crawl into Bed with A Bear, A Kitty...and....

Crawling Into Bed With
A Kitty, A Bear, and a Good Book

* crawls across the bed*  *pauses*  Hmmmm....This poses quite a dilemma.  Do I curl up with the bear or the kitty? In the middle? On the left or the right? Havan? What do you think?

(Havan)*looks at my muse pointedly* Oh you know my answer to that question *criss crosses at foot of bed and opens my arms to Lee*

*nods* You're absolutely right. *grabs a pillow and tosses it to the foot of the bed* The view is awesome from down here.  *snuggles up and puts my head in Havan's lap*  Important things first, are these sheets silk or cotton?

(Talon) 450count cotton, *scowls* wow and you brought Havan too? Oh yeah forgot… handcuffed. Its’a getting a little crowded in here Bear.

(Tom) Good think we got the California King then huh?  And Egyptian cotton totally absorbs everything.

(Princess) Move over Tom. *crawls in next to her brother and Tom* He forgets Talon is a package deal sometimes.

(Talon) This here is my twin sister Princess, *hugs her*

(Havan)*Hello...this is the most gorgeous filled bed I've ever seen!

Of course I brought Havan...Hey now, Havan! That doesn't mean stop petting me!

(Havan)*plays with Lee's hair* Never happen *kisses*

Hello, Princess. So pleased to meet you. This is really cozy...who's...um...Hey! That's my foot!  *gulps* So...interview... questions... what was I supposed to...Havan! *psst- whispers* These two are so sexy...the visuals are distracting me. What's the next question?  Oh, yeah... Right.

(Havan)*tugs on Lee's ear*

OW!  Was that really necessary? Yes, dear. *rubs head* What are you wearing?

(Talon) Stop it *smacks Tom’s hand away* I was wearing these really cool and uber comfy bright neon yellow-n-white boxer briefs by ‘Get me off” but dammit Tom keeps yanking them down around my thighs. Go pull on Lee’s shorts awhile… WAIT scratch that, *scowls*

(Havan)*growls*

(Tom) I think Lee and Havan would be happy to be nice to me.  Although you do look really good in that color. Come sit in my lap and I promise no more yanking. On the underwear. For now.

(Princess)  *Rolls her eyes* they’re always going at each other

*eyes widen* This is so much better than that interview where Talon made me watch porn....Ouch! Quit pulling my hair!

(Havan)*Oops...sorry honey...totally on accident *giggles and twirls Lee's hair in my fingers again*

What are we snacking on in bed while we read tonight?

(Talon) I don’t know but I don’t think that what I had was nearly as good at what you and Havan are eating right now… No Tom, I don’t count as a snack…

(Tom) I happen to know what my kitty likes. And don’t be vulgar, I am a gentleman. Red grapes. Pu Pu platter from that little Chinese place down the street. And Mountain Dew for my boy.

*aside to Havan* Were we eating?

(Havan)*shrugs and eyes our guests* I can't remember what I had an appetite for before...um...

I think I forgot to chew.  They're so pretty together. If I open this nightstand drawer, what will I find?

(Talon) *slaps hand over my eyes* I can’t look… *slaps other hand over Havan’s eyes* she’s not allowed to look.

(Havan) Hey!

(Tom)  Oh please! *opens drawer* An e-reader. Pens and pencils and paper. A dreamcatcher. And a little teddy bear to keep him company when I’m not here.

(Talon) *peeks then scowls* You hid the paddle again?

(Tom) *slow evil grin* Oh, you'll be seeing it soon enough...
I think the dogs are due a new chew toy

(Princess) See what I mean?

(Havan) So am I really the only one who has golf balls in my nightstand drawer? Huh...go figure...

*eye roll* Please. Have you seen Havan's bag? There's no way you could fit anything in that drawer she hasn't already seen, bought in three colors, and used ingeniously.

(Havan) *blushes* Okay Lee...not everyone knows about the cookie cutters and pastry bag incident...

Unless it’s a Cordon Bleu cook book.

(Havan) Hey! *sighs* No...that's fair...

Why is there no tequila in there? I could really use a nice icy shot of tequila right now. Do you roll up in the blankets like a burrito, or kick the covers off during the night?

(Talon) I just kick my feet out... but have you ever slept with a Bear? There is no kicking them off… I said kicking not getting... down Bear!

(Tom) He’s a cover hog. But he generates heat like nobody’s business, so we manage.
 (Talon) *grin*

(Princess) It never ends between these too and I have to live with this.

*snickers* Nice...Can I put my cold feet on your calves to warm them up?

(Talon)  I was gonna do that to you?

(Havan)*Excuse me?!?!

Are you insane? No freaking way will you get away with that.

Havan)**growls*

(Talon) Who’s gonna warm up my feet? Is Havan any good at foot rubs?

(Havan)* I love rubbing my muse's...feet *smiles sweetly*

(Tom) *Growls* Talon. That’s one. Keep it up and you won’t be sitting down tomorrow.

(Princess) *snort*

Havan is very good at everything she does...too bad for you.

(Havan)*awwww...love my muse! *kisses* Talon...don't make me pull out the catnip...my muse has never complained about me...

What are we reading?

(Talon)  Talon and the three bears… once upon a …

(Princess) *takes away the three bears stories and hands her brother the correct book*

(Talon)  wrong book…

(Tom) Three bears? Does that mean I get three kitties? We will definitely need a bigger bed now.

Wait...before we read...three bears, + three kitties + one twin + Me + Havan =  one heck of a big bed. Is there even a word for that? *closes eyes & snuggles into Havan*

(Havan)*holds my muse and hums happily*

Go on...read me a story.

Quantum Mates: What Torin Wants
A new life on the Quantum Transport Research Project is what Raffe Landau is hoping for, what he found was a lover with a rare and similar condition of mutation that makes everyone else untouchable. But there’s a reason the space station has laws that forbid anyone touching either of the TorinLee twins and when they’re attacked, Raffe knows he’s to blame. But the only way to protect the young man he’s fallen in love with is to stop touching him.
Torin has ever known human touch. That is until Raffe came along and it’s not just the touch. Raffe makes him feel things he never knew existed. So when Raffe pulls away, not only does he not understand, it’s not allowed. Raffe’s about to find out that what Torin wants Torin gets.
